Functions of NAPE:
· The main activity of the academy is to organize long and short-term in-service training for primary educational administrators, supervisors, teacher educators and URC officials.
· To undertake research and action research program for the improvement of primary school teachers’ training and quality of primary education.
· To develop instructional materials, models for improving quality of instruction and training in the PTIs.
· To put forward recommendations to the MOPME on matters regarding the enhancement of primary education.
· To conduct and supervise Certificate in Education (C-in-Ed.) examination for the primary school teachers in PTIs and award certificate.
· It has been helping DPE to prepare model questions and to arrange primary scholarship examination and course completion examination for class V.
· To monitor and follow up the activities of field level primary education offices and primary schools.
· It organizes national and international seminar, symposia and workshops in the field of globalization of primary education, curriculum design and development, classroom management, monitoring and evaluation.
· It develops training manuals for teacher training in modular form.
· It has been co-operating MOPME to arrange National Primary Education Week.
· It publishes newsletters and journals on primary education twice in a year.
· NAPE undertakes follow up training activities imparted to the teacher educators and supervisors through its regular mobile team programme to collect necessary feed-back for improving and monitoring the training programme.
